BRUSSELS – , 23 June 2011 A 245/11 – The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

« The High Representative welcomes the reports that the artist Ai Weiwei has been released, while regretting the circumstances of his detention.
This case has been the subject of widespread concern and featured among others in the recent EU- China human rights dialogue held last week in Beijing. »
